We closed the month of January with the greatest blessing..our new nephew, Grayson James. He was born on 01.26 weighing 7lbs 1oz & was 20" long. He brings me so much joy - I just look at his picture and I'm reminded of how amazing life truly is.
We also began attending the church we call home, Eagle Brook & are constantly amazed at the things we're learning...I'm not going to get into that in this Blog but feel free to let me know if you'd like to hear!
On our house front, we've done a few upgrades this spring -- we've installed a new screen door, gutted our entire basement in preparation for a future remodel, cleaned out some of our flowerbeds, planted our first tree & spent an entire week sleeping in our dining room as we refinished our hardwood floors & repainted all of our trim. Our next projects begin with some electrical work, installing gutters & the refinishing of our family room.
I've had the absolute pleasure of working hard to make our house a home alongside my love. To be perfectly honest, I had no idea how handy he is. We haven't had to hire anybody to do the dirty work (we will for the electrical, of course!). I've also enjoyed decorating -- I'll have to post pictures soon but here's the tree! LOVE it & our white picket fence!
But what I really wanted to share was some fantastic news for our family...we've added two new members! Yes, you read it right -- two!
Since January, I've been ubber depressed about what happened...so has Brock. We knew we had to wait at least four months before we could get another puppy. So I asked Brock, "What about a kitty?" He was seriously convinced he was allergic & to be perfectly honest, neither of us are really "cat people." I just needed something to fill the void & so I figured..why not?
After three months of showing him cute pictures of kittens I'd find to rescue, he gave in. And so began the search for our kitty. We were looking online and came across an ad from a woman saying she was going to leave her two cats behind when she moved if somebody didn't come and get them. I knew two was too many but what kind of a person just leaves their pets behind?
We inquired about the two cats -- one a boy who is all black, the other a girl who is gray. Both were around nine months. I thought I wanted a baby girl cat, but I couldn't live with myself knowing that a young cat wasn't good enough for me. The woman was willing to separate them; perfect.
On a Friday afternoon, I ventured out to pick up our little girl. I was terrified. What the heck do you do with a cat? What items do you need to take care of them? I brought her home & was completely covered in hair! Brock looked at me like I was crazy as he picked her up to say hi.
She wasn't the most friendly of cats. The first night she spent in the crawl space...Houdini-Cat! The next few days she spent in the bathroom with her "stuff" -- scratching post, food, litter box, etc. -- with frequent visits from us. Within three days, she wanted out! Since then, she has acclimated herself to our home & to Buck.
Meet Feebe aka Fa-beebles [Brock named her]
A few weeks later, I got the puppy itch...again! Brock was on the Paws website (I'll side note this) & found a litter of Shepherd puppies. PERFECT! They looked similar to Ellie -- just what I wanted! Even better was, it was just a few days after my birthday & over four months after our tragedy! PERFECT TIMING!
Brock called & arranged a time to meet the girls. There were eight in Jayda's litter -- all girls! There were five left -- again, perfect! On Thursday, April 19th, we brought our little Jayda Boo home! She is a fiesty & beyond cute princess! She is a 17 week old Shepherd-Beagle mix. She's estimated to be around 40-50lbs full grown & she too, is PERFECT!

Our little cuddle bug & sun-bather!
We started Puppy Kindergarten with her last Sunday & holy shish-kabobs, she is smart! I know all parents think that about their kids, but for real. She's doing fantastic! About the only things we're really working/struggling with are crate training/sleeping through the night & getting her to quit torturing Feebe [she likes to bite Feebe's legs or tail & put Feebe's head in her mouth..lol!]. In all honesty, I think a part of Feebe likes it because she comes back for more.
Buck & Jayda
Anyway, we still do not like to be affiliated with Paws because of what happened to us & their continuous unorganized behaviors...I'll spare the details. The only reason we did decide to get Jayda from them is because we didn't have to pay for her because of what happened with our litter of puppies.
Over the last four months, our house has truly become a home -- our home full of fur-babies! Brock & I were laying in bed last night as all of our kiddos made their presence known & just couldn't help but feel blessed with our family. We truly are -- & we are so lucky!
3 fur-babes & counting,
Nicole

Verrrrrrry cute, have fun with all your furry kiddos. We love our new dog from Paws, can't say much about the people that run it. Thanks for sharing.
